How do I work?

My work is based on striving to understand the extent to which one's biological, socio-economic and cultural background, on one hand, and the relationships formed throughout one's life, on the other, shape both a person's self-image and how they are perceived by others.

By creating a safe space, building a trusting therapeutic relationship and using scientifically proven methods, I work to alleviate the symptoms, understand their roots and transform destructive mechanisms into curiosity and healthy coping strategies.

Sometimes language is not enough to access all aspects of our personality. Here, if appropriate and desired, various body interventions, creative mediums and other interactive psychotherapeutic tools are added.

What can you expect from me?

I ask a lot of questions, but I also sometimes welcome stillness. I invite deep breaths, and if the person feels comfortable with it, we can explore small movements and reflect, draw, write or play together.

All interventions I suggest are invitations that can be declined. We embark on a journey together to find out what specifically helps the particular individual. Wishes, constructive criticism and questions are always welcome. I believe in a dual expertise – me in my professional capacity and my counterpart as an expert in relation to their own life situation.

What do I
stand for?

I believe in mutual respect, appreciation of what is possible at the moment, and the conviction that the journey really is the destination when the steps are taken consciously and accompanied qualitatively.

To find your place in the world, you have to be able to arrive at your own harbour – not so easy in a society that seems to have many demands. I see the desire to understand yourself and the ability to allow change as prerequisites for healthy personal growth. The world seems less daunting when you feel safe and at home within yourself.

Who do I work with?

Everyone who is curious about themselves, wants to develop self-awarness and is striving for change is welcome – the specific needs and the way in which they can be worked on are something that we take time for, especially at the beginning of therapy, and we continue to evaluate them over time.

Based on my professional and personal experiences, I have a certain affinity to particular topics – these can serve as an orientation, but are not to be understood as a rigid framework for the course of our work:

Aggression and violence, Anxiety disorders, Children (primary school age and up), Adolescents, Family issues, Relationship issues, Intercultural psychotherapy, Psychotherapy with expats, Mourning, Depression , Searching for meaning, Psychosomatic complaints , Stress management, Emotion regulation, Trauma
